In its efforts to create an understanding of dynamism of policy
advocacy, to build civil society organisations effectiveness and
efficacy in influencing policy arena and finally to build civil
society organisations capacity in lobbying and advocacy Lesotho
Council of NGOs has organised a Training Workshop on Policy
Campaign, Advocacy and Lobbying Khotsong Lodge, Thaba-bosiu, Maseru,
from 22nd25th April 2007.
The training is intended to deepen, through shared analysis,
participants appreciation and understanding of rights-based policy
advocacy as a site for strategic influencing in the interest of poor
people. The training will draw on shared experiences to identify,
analyse and elaborate mechanisms, practical tools and strategies for
strategic engagement.
This training will address the significance of values, beliefs and
power relations underpinning advocacy strategies. It will provide
participants with campaigning planning tools and methods.

Building campaigns for policy engagement
Engaging policy-makers, lobbying and policy influence
Engaging policy-makers working with policy
Strategic communications and campaign planning
It is expected that the training would come up with a group of
committed and knowledgeable development and advocacy workers. The
outcome will be active civil society that is efficient and effective
in policy engagement in Lesotho in the SADC region.
