Lesotho Council of NGOs (LCN) will hold a one day workshop to verify
the findings
gathered during the human rights monitoring of workers rights in the
textile industry on the 20th July, 2006 at the Victoria Hotel in
Maseru.
The objective is to share with different stakeholders the findings
which are in a form of a report on the workers rights in the textile
industry in Lesotho as well as verifying the findings.
The expected outcome of the workshop is to have a report that
reflects all the views of the stakeholders.
Verification of the following reports will soon follow in the form
of workshops;
1. Detained persons report
2. Youth and gender equality report
3. The disabled report
The workshop is organized by the Human Rights programme within the
LCN which is aimed at monitoring, identifying and addressing
violations in various government institutions in a view to enhance
democratic rule in Lesotho. The programme comprises of training,
monitoring, documenting, educating and reporting of human rights
violations.
The programme commenced in September 2005 and it is expected that by
the end of the programme human rights situation analysis report
would be published for distribution in the country, human rights
organisations throughout the world, African Union (AU) Human Rights
Commission and United Nations Human Rights Commission.
It is also expected that the different reports would set a baseline
for advocacy strategies on human rights issues in Lesotho.
