| Preface
In 2007, the Lesotho Council of Non-Governmental
Organizations (LCN) undertook to develop a new strategic
plan to guide the board, the Secretariat and the members
towards a new strategic vision for the year 2011.
During the planning process, some changes occurred,
including the addition of several new staff positions and
the departure of the Executive Director. While the planning
process was near completion at this time in early 2008, a
final version of the 2007-2011 plans was not prepared.
During 2008, some significant developments occurred for LCN,
including the implementation of the African Capacity
Building Foundation initiative and the nomination of LCN to
serve as a Principal Recipient under the Global Fund Round 8
funding process.
An organizational review was also commissioned to assist
LCN to create an organizational development plan. It was
therefore decided that a validation and revision process was
necessary in order to finally complete a new five-year
strategic vision for the organization. This new draft
reflects the results of this process and extends the
planning framework to 2012. While respecting the work done
previously by board, staff, members and partners of LCN,
this new version takes into account more fully the new
organizational structure, the new funding opportunities, and
the very important trends and developments emerging for LCN
nationally, regionally and globally.
