Composition and
Appointment
The LCN Board of Directors is elected every 2 years at the
Annual General Meeting, as provided in the Constitution of
LCN (subsection 10.1 and 14.1 (b)). The Board of Directors
is composed of 9 members, which include:
1. Executive Committee
- President
- Vice – President
- Treasurer
2. Commissioners
- Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources
- Democracy and Human Rights
- Disaster Management and Humanitarian relief
- Economic Justice
- Health and Social Development
- Women and Children
3. Responsibilities of the Board
According to the Constitution of LCN (section 10), the
responsibilities of the Board shall be overall
administration and leadership of the Council through the
Executive Committee. Specifically, the Board of Directors is
expected to perform the following duties:

Duties of the Board
- Oversee and give strategic directions on the
policy of the Council
- Provide checks and balances on the realisation
of the resolutions of the Annual General Meeting
- Monitor and ensure that all members are properly
managed and fully comply with the
Code of Conduct
- Comply with the Board’s Code of Conduct and
Conflict of Interest Policy
Duties of the Executive Committee
- To oversee the affairs of the Council through
Policies
- To perform duties, which facilitate smooth
running of the Council in between Board meetings
Duties of the Commissioners
- Provide leadership within the Board of Directors
on issues concerning a specific Commission
- Facilitate cooperation and collaboration among
NGOs with similar programs on sectoral issues
- Pronounce positions and views on issues
affecting civil society in the particular sector and
advice the Board accordingly
- Provide platform through which NGOs can
meaningfully engage other agencies and actively
participate in the programs of the Council
- Ensure that activities of the Commissions are
adequately captured in the reports of the Council.
